The Sandals Tour of St. Lucia

In September 2018, I had the opportunity to visit St. Lucia as part of Sandals Regency La Toc General Manager's Reconnect Seminar.  This would be my first visit to St. Lucia so I opted to extend my time to a full week so I could experience as much of St Lucia as possible.  As we flew into the southern part of the island, I was fortunate to view The Pitons from the plane and I have to say it setup the mood for the week.

Sandals Grande St. Lucian Spa & Beach Resort

Grand Views On Its Own Peninsula

It's all about the water at this resort where you have the calm waters of Rodney Bay to your west and to your east is the Atlantic Ocean.  Looking for a quiet spot to relax and watch the clouds float by, you won't be disappointed here.  Maybe you like to be in the active area, well the main pool with a great swim up bar may just have your name on it!  Speaking of pools, yes there are some quiet ones, but also swim up rooms where you are only steps away from your own oasis.  After spending just 2 nights here, I know I will be back to enjoy a full week!

Sandals Regency La Toc

The Emerald of the Caribbean

This was home for 5 nights and even though you have the Sandals service, this resort offers such a different vibe than the other 2 resorts.  The first thing you notice on arrival, the road drops you into a very scenic valley and you pass a 9 hole golf course that is walking distance to the main lobby so if you are a golfer, you won't waste any time reaching the first tee! The second thing you notice on arrival to the main building, there's 2 distinct sections to the resort.  You have the Emerald Village which is where you find the beach, active pool, lobby, dining, scuba area, Red Lane Spa and some quiet spots to enjoy the St. Lucian day.  Off to the side of  Emerald Village, you will find the Pitons Oceanview Village as well as the Honeymoon Hideaway Village.  Between these villages, there are a number of room categories to choose from, but after visiting each area, I can quickly point the advantages of each.  Overall, you will find an active pool, a quiet pool, dining option, Red Lane Spa, hammocks and firepits in this section of the resort.

If it's all about the view, then you need to consider booking into the Sunset Bluff Village of the resort as you won't be disappointed.  You truly have the million dollar views of the Caribbean Sea from this hilltop vantage point.  You may have heard of the Millionaire Suites....it's not about the cost, it's about the view from these private bungalows set on the highest point.  Worried about being located away from the main section of the resort?  No need to be concerned as you will find dining options along with a great pool/swim up bar and quiet deck areas with firepits to lounge the day or evening away.

Looking for some nightlife, well both sections of the resort have something to offer the night owls from a piano bar to english pub to  a disco.

Sandals Halcyon Beach

A True Garden Of Eden By A Tranquil Sea

Are you looking for a laid back, intimate style resort that does not scrimp on service?  Then you need to consider a vacation at Halcyon Beach as you won't be disappointed.  I had been told over the years, this resort was extremely popular and had a high repeat guest ratio and after touring the resort, I can understand why.  The grounds are just like "Eden" and nestled throughout you will find quaint bungalow accommodations with a choice of private plunge pools (some with views of the ocean).  A new section of the resort was in the finishing stages and will host the largest swim up pool in the Caribbean.

St Lucia - Catamaran Cruise

One evening, Sandals Regency La Toc hosted a catamaran cruise that departed from the harbour in Castries and sailed down the west coast of the island offering some great views of the Sandals resort.  The highlight though was stopping in Marigot Bay which felt like your own private oasis.  You may recognize the bay as it was the movie location for Dr. Doolittle and when not being used as a movie set, you just may run into someone famous as there are a couple of 5 star resorts, private homes and a marina that offers shelter from large storms.
