October 15, 2018 - Day 1 – Tampa

After a few nights pre-cruise in Orlando, we’re off to board the Majesty of the Seas to start our 5-night adventure. We arrived on board around lunch time which gave us lots of time to explore the ship and unpack our bags before the Sail Away Celebration.

Some of the activities on board include swimming, exercising, cinema, bingo, casino, spa, cooking classes, wine tasting, dancing, card games, trivia, etc. I could go on and on as there was something to offer for everyone.

October 16, 2018 - Day 2 – Sea Day

Today was the first of 2 sea days. After breakfast, we did some walking on the outdoor track and headed into the gym. There were lots of activities around the ship but we were happy to lounge by the pool and take in the sun.

Tonight was our first formal night, with opportunities to get your picture taken with the Captain. After supper, we attended the headliner show where we watched Greg London, a Las Vegas entertainer.   We finished off the night with a slice of Sorrento’s pizza.

October 17, 2018 - Day 3 – Key West, Florida

Our arrival at Key West was 8:00am. We purchased a ticket for the Old Town Trolley Tour which gave us unlimited hop on and off privileges. We did the full tour and then got off at one of the midway stops so we could leisurely walk back to the ship. This allowed us to spend more time at different sites along the way.

We saw Ernest Hemingway’s house and stopped for a picture at the southernmost point in Key West. This buoy marks the southernmost point in the continental United States. The large painted buoy was established as a tourist attraction in 1983 by the city at the corner of South Street and Whitehead Street. It is one of the most visited and photographed attractions in the US.

After a bit of shopping, we stopped for a margarita at Jimmy Buffett’s original Margaritaville. Before heading back to our ship for our 4:30PM onboard time, we stopped for a slice of Florida’s famous key lime pie.

Once we finished supper, we watched comedian Rick Novell at the Chorus Line Theatre. We finished off the night, once again, with a slice of Sorrento’s pizza.

October 18, 2018 - Day 4 - Havana, Cuba

We arrived in Havana, Cuba at 8:30am. We were required to bring our tourist visa (paid for and provided by RCL) and Passport at Customs in order to enter Havana.

Our private tour started with a 3-hour walking tour of Havana at the San Francisco de Asis Square. This cobblestone plaza facing the harbor is home to the Fuente de los Leones fountain.   Our guide Karel took us through the streets and alleys, where we got to hear past and present stories. Karel was knowledgeable and he gave us an opportunity to learn about and experience authentic Havana. Once we finished our walking tour, we stopped for lunch at one of his favorite restaurants where we also got to taste their famous mojito. After lunch, we got to continue our tour in one of the many vintage American cars you see throughout Havana. Once we finished our organized tour, we continued to walk and explore on our own. We headed back to the ship for our 7:30PM onboard time.

We spent the evening in the Schooner Bar where we were entertained with some great singing and piano playing.

October 19, 2018 - Day 5 – Sea Day

After a busy day at port yesterday, we welcomed this sea day to relax around the pool. We finished at evening at the Schooner bar before heading back to the cabin to pack our luggage for our early morning departure.

October 20, 2018 - Day 6 – Tampa

This ends our 5 night cruise. We left Tampa and drive to Fort Lauderdale to continue our vacation.

Overall

We selected this cruise as we have never been to Key West but more importantly, we wanted to see Cuba. This cruise gave us the opportunity to see Key West and the full day in Havana allowed us to really see and experience Cuba.
