NCL Getaway - 7 Night Caribbean Cruise

In October 2018, I had the opportunity to sail aboard the Norwegian Getaway with NCL.

During our 7-day cruise, we got to explore and experience this amazing ship. Some of our memories include the friendly staff, sail-away parties, entertainment, dining experiences, multiple bars and lounges and activities. The staff really conveyed a warm appreciation for each passenger sailing.   Our 7-day cruise included 2 sea days plug stops at Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras; Harvest Caye, Belize; Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico. You can learn a bit more information on each of the ports below.

Norwegian Getaway - The Basics:

Launched: 2014  Length: 326m  Guest Capacity: 3,963  Ship Crew: 1,646

Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

As we had no organized tour, we decided to walk around the port. We did a little shopping and sampled some food and drink.

Harvest Caye, Belize

We arrived at port around 8:00am. Harvest Caye is NCL’s private island. This beautiful island offers lots of things to do for everyone. This port features a beach, an expansive swimming pool area with private cabanas, a saltwater lagoon (for water sports), four a-la-carte priced beverage and dining venues, marina pier, lighthouse (with 2 zip-lines). It also features a kid’s water play area, nature center and a shopping village that has both name-brand retail shops along with local vendors. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent time on the beach.

Costa Maya, Mexico

Once again, we had no organized tour as this was our second time visiting Costa Maya where we previously saw the Mayan Ruins. We decided to walk around port to do some shopping. There were lots of opportunities to do things at the port, some of which included shopping, swimming, eating and swimming with the dolphins. After our shopping, we managed to make time for a frozen margarita for 2!

Cozumel, Mexico

We arrived in port around 8:00am where we decided to take a cab to one of the local beaches. It was a short cab ride to the beach and our reward was we got to enjoy a small, private beach next to a restaurant. We took the opportunity to sample some local food and drinks. After a full day at the beach, we got a cab back to the port where we did some shopping before heading back to the ship.

Sunsets

Each evening, we had front row seats to some of the best sunsets. Here are some samples for you to look at.

Overall

This was a fantastic cruise. We got to enjoy some great ports with just the right amount of rest and relaxation thrown in. The Getaway is a beautiful ship and we got to experience so much that the ship offered. I recommend adding this itinerary and ship to your vacation list.
